TUBE-TECH General Statements

The very first Blue Unit bearing the TUBE-TECH name came out of John Petersens garage 25 years ago.

Here we have collected some statements by distributors and dealers:

"Tube-Tech make deep blue, vintage style compressor and equalisers, have been making them for over two decades and make them in funky Denmark, what’s more.

Lurking within the Tubetech range are a couple of real winners, in the form of either end of their compressor range. I can confidently say that there are few vari mu style compressors better than the CL1B and no better multiband than the all tube SMC2B (now also available in a mastering version).

Frustratingly, Tubetech has been overlooked in recent years as the new wave of US manufacturers have manipulated user groups and chucked $$$ into heavy advertising. This is bonkers, crazy, patso, loco…insane. Were Tubetech to suddenly claim to be the latest kid on the LA block, bang a bunch of adverts in the mainstream techie mags and list even a fraction of happy producer and studio clients, the brand would clean up. It outperforms 90% of high-end tube gear, looks infinitely sexier and costs a whole bunch less. Yet Manley, Chandler, Thermionics, Universal and others have gained a far higher profile in recent years. Sure, all these brands are good, but I suspect that in A/B comparisons, eight out of ten cats would purr a little louder at the Tubetech sound.
We really feel strongly that anyone looking for a full sounding, rich, dreamy comp for vocals, bass or even mix MUST at the very least check out Tubetech. Similarly, mastering and mix engineers deserve the chance to put the SCM2B through its paces.
Check it out. You won’t be disappointed."

"For over twenty years, Tube Tech has been one of the most prominent names in all-tube signal processing equipment. You'll find their gear in the best recording and mastering studios around the world. The company's founder, John Petersen is an electrical engineer who was factory trained at Solid State Logic, EMT, Studer, Sony, Neumann, and NTP Electonik (digital audio routers). He also designed tape recorder playback/recording amps for Lyrec tape recorders (found in the studios of the legendary Joe Meek and Vangelis). His first design under the name of Tube-Tech was an all-tube equalizer based on the legendary Pultec EQP 1A. Petersen continued to design and manufacture a number of innovative all-tube outboard processors including preamps, multiband compressors and summing amps. Thanks to John's dedication to high-quality analog sound you'll see Tube-Tech gear in the racks of pro audio legends such as multi Grammy Award winner Al Schmitt, (Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Toto, Quincy Jones, Natalie Cole, Diana Krall), Grammy winner Joe Chiccarelli, (Elton John, Beck, U2, Tori Amos, Counting Crows, Offspring), engineer Russ Long (Sixpence None The Richer, Wilco, Dolly Parton, Allison Moorer), producer-engineer Tony Shepperd (Elton John, Madonna, Kenny Loggins, Barbra Streisand, Lionel Richie, and Whitney Houston), and many more"

TUBE-TECH, a Denmark-based engineering and manufacturing firm with a thirty-year history of building world-class tube compressors, equalizers, and mic pres of uncompromised fidelity and reliability. TransAudio Group will bring its core strength of business and personal relationships to bear for TUBE-TECH, increasing exposure and sales in the high-end markets of U.S. recording, mastering and touring sound.

TUBE-TECH long-time owner and chief designer, John Petersen, builds modern classics by combining simple yet elegant designs with contemporary materials and manufacturing processes. TUBE-TECH possesses that magical reputation for gear that “makes everything sound better just running through it.” Many TUBE-TECH units, such as the CL1B tube compressor, have been a “must have” for years, in both recording and high-end live sound.

Brad Lunde, president of TransAudio Group commented, “I am thrilled to be part of this TUBE-TECH family. John Petersen, is one of the most respected designers of our day. He is responsible for so many modern “must haves” and so many future “vintage classics.” These are pro audio devices that never go out of style, as they are not designed to be a “color” or reflect a trend or a feature of the moment. They are designed for professional audio people who depend on their gear to always sound good under every condition. TUBE-TECH is gear you could make a living with for mastering, an uncommon ability in a disposable world. TUBE-TECH is much larger than anyone would guess due to the “don’t tell anyone about my secret weapon” status. It will be an absolute pleasure to represent a brand with such authority and renown.”
