Statements about SMC2B for Live Sound

I frequently use a Tube Tech SMC2b as my go-to mastercompressor (yes, for live use). Excellent for smoothing out the midrange and adding a little top end shine.

SMC2B LIVE

What's the idea of using The TUBE-TECH SMC2B for Live Sound?

Well first let's start with the joke, told to us by Gary Lewis from LA who owns a PA system and the SMC2B:

"The SMC2B in/out switch I call the suck button!! "

"Why" we asked!

Gary:  "That's natural! It sucks when it's out!"

All the beauty of the SMC2B sound transfers very well to Live Sound.

The ability to control the overall tonal balance of a mix in an extremely musical way is a trademark of this unit and when the volume is loud the action gets even better.

For sterile digital consoles the SMC2B puts some nice analog substance back into the mix.

The ability of the SMC2B to make all acoustical music sparkle is obvious when mixing with it on a PA system.

Want to control the power of your system? The SMC2B takes care of that in a pleasant musical way and makes your mixes sound louder without going into extreme SPL.

Carpark North featuring SMC2B on 2011 Summer Tour

Danish Electro Rock band, Carpark North has been using The TUBE-TECH Multiband Compressor SMC2B for all their live gigs through summer 2011. This tour consisted of both the biggest outdoor festival gigs and club venues.

The SMC2B was inserted on the master mix bus of the various consoles used.

Live sound Engineer Anders Norgaard:

"The SMC2B improved sound in many ways, always adding more substance and musicality to the mix. One special thing was that on smaller venues or when the power capacity of the PA system was insufficient, using the SMC2B to control the power in especially the low frequency band really helped me produce the very powerful sound of CARPARK NORTH without getting into overloading the power amps.

This way the show sounded loud but it was more pleasant to the ears!
